Frightening Story: The Haunted

This is a narrative essay that I wrote based on given fist line (in bold). Enjoy!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The dead tree branches cracked as I hastily walked in the dark woods. I tried to run as fast as I could, but some kind of force is preventing me from doing so. Somehow the effects of tranquilizers are still lingering in my blood vessels. I feel dizzy. My head feels like it is going to burst at any time, just like a time bomb. I have to run. I need to escape from the mansion. This is crazy. Real crazy. The sounds of footsteps are slowly approaching my ear buds. They keep chasing me wherever I go. Leave! Go! I feel like shouting those words but my mouth seems hard and glued with fear. I have to search for help. I continued running till I slipped over the hillside. Jenny and I fell into a damp valley. My vision slowly turns dark...

3rd August – it was a holiday! It is time for Mark and Jenny to fly back to Malaysia. Oh, I miss them so much! They are my siblings, my younger brother and sister. They live with Nanna in New Orleans, while I am to stay here with Dad. Mom is no longer here, as God took her and leave everyone else in the world. It is a must for both my siblings to spend their holiday with me in Malaysia. Mark is so into adventurous activities. Rock-climbing, bungee-jumping, flying-fox, just name it! Everything is under his control. About Jenny, she is totally different from Mark. Although they are twins, they have different interests. Jenny loves mystical things. She is not a realistic person like Mark.

There is an old mansion on top of Bukit Tua. It is where all these nightmares started. Up till now, I regret the idea of taking them there. Since Mark loves hiking, I thought Bukit Tua is the place to test his skills. But, it was too late to step back. I should stop Jenny from coming into the old mansion. Maybe I could make a difference, but I failed.

Upon entering the mansion, cold breeze started to blow over our body. Sometimes, it seemed like ‘somebody’ was watching us coming into the mansion. I felt uneasy and told both Mark and Jenny to walk out from the mansion. However, Jenny kept on walking as if she was pulled deeper and deeper into the darkness of the mansion. I kept an eye over Jenny and Mark from behind. Suddenly, Jenny screamed so loudly like her throat was going to burst. She pointed her fingers to a blind spot in the darkness. Mark and I could not understand a thing Jenny was saying at that time; as she shivered like crazy and her words seemed foreign to us. Her eyes rolls around and she collapsed.

I carried her over my back and tried we tried to escape from the house. As far as I remember, we were running like crazy to go back to the main door. But it was locked! Marks tried to open the door several times but he could not do it. Mysterious footsteps were heard. They were coming to us. I was frightened thinking that what will happen to all of us if we did not managed to escape. At that time, I saw a window and tried to open it. We escaped through that window and ran into the woods. With hardships I carried Jenny over my back and ran as fast as I could. Without realizing, I lost track with Mark. I was so confused and nervous but I had to continue running to seek for help.

I slowly open my eyes and I see Dad beside me. He looks worried. He asks me a lot of questions.  I turn around; Jenny and Mark are on their beds beside me. We look at each other, our eyes meet and we came into a decision. We will keep this as a secret. The secret of a haunted mansion which  never be visited by others.

the end.
